New project management team for Milford Opportunities

Opus and Xyst are the new project management team for the Milford Opportunities project.
Milford Opportunities governance group chair Dr Keith Turner said the group is delighted to have the partnership on board because of the expertise they will bring.
“Opus/Xyst staff joined us last week when we visited Milford so that everyone could experience the pressures of peak session, better understand the visitor issues and opportunities and hear first-hand from some of the operators,” Dr Turner said.
Opus/Xyst project leader Michele Frey said the partnership is thrilled to be part of the team.
“We are looking forward to working with the project team to develop a plan that will ensure the Milford experience is outstanding for years to come and continues to create benefit for Fiordland National Park, The Southern Regions and the whole of New Zealand,” Ms Frey said.
Opus/Xyst will now start undertaking research to understand what is currently known and what else is needed to better inform the project. The team will work closely with agencies and stakeholders to gather relevant information and prepare research reports, with this phase taking up to six months.
“This work will all help us to understand the people, the place and the experience,” she said.
As this phase finishes, any gaps in information will be filled through further research. Ultimately this information will feed into an overall masterplan which will create a framework for the future of Milford Sound and the access corridor to enhance it and the wider national park.
